Charminar is in the city of Hyderabad, capital of the state of Andhra Pradesh, India.

Charminar is a squarish structure with four towers on the four corners of the square, each of whose sides is 20 metres in length.

Muhammad Quli Qutb Shah built the monument in 1591 shortly after he had shifted his capital from Golkonda to what now is known as Hyderabad.

The great monument is a synonym for Hyderabad and the pivot around which the glory and history of the city have developed.

A thriving market lies around the Charminar, attracting people and merchandise of every description. In its heyday, the Charminar market had some 14,000 shops; today the market around the Charminar is crowded with shops which sell glass bangles in rainbow colours.

Charminar is the world’s largest Talisman.

Golconda Fort

It is a ruined city of south-central India, is situated west of Hyderabad.

Golconda, meaning shepherd hill, is a blend of majesty and grandeur of the 800-year-old ruins and the architectural glory.

The fort area on the hill is fenced off by a series of high and broad granite walls built in concentric circles.

Golconda was the centre of a flourishing trade in diamonds and the world-famous Kohinoor diamond came from this market.

It was a capital of ancient Hyderabad state.

Lepakshi Temple

Located in the Lepakshi village, 114 kms from Anantapur city.

Built in the 16th century, the Lepakshi Temple is a brilliant example of the Vijayanagar style of architecture.

Has a huge complex where three shrines dedicated to Lord Shiva, Lord Vishnu and Lord Virabhadra are to be found, Lord Virabhadra being the wrathful form of Shiva, the patron deity of the Nayak rulers.

Has a central pavilion, embracing all the three shrines. This pavilion is further connected with an intermediary hall and a hall for ritual dance. Surrounding the main hall is a large open court, accessible from the east.

Lepakshi Temple perhaps houses the largest monolithic structure of Nagalinga in India.

There is also another exquisite statue of Lord Ganesha in the second interior court.

The interiors consist of sculptures in half-relief on the granite pillars. The carvings represent dancers, drummers and divine musicians. Here, you can see Lord Brahma playing drums, celestial nymph Rambha dancing and Lord Shiva engaged in `Ananda Tandava`. In the intermediary hall, there is a frieze that depicts geese with lotus stalks in their beaks.

Most celebrated for its splendid paintings, the temple has a colossal painting of Virabhadra in the central hall. In the `Hall of Dance`, one can trace eight panels, depicting Puranic legends on the ceiling.

Mecca Masjid

Mecca Masjid is situated in Hyderabad.

Mecca Masjid is one of the oldest and biggest masjids in the city.

The mosque is a granite giant with awe-inspiring innards.

It took 77 years to come up as the magnificent edifice as it is seen today.

It was built during the reign of the 6th Sultan of Hyderabad. The work began in 1617 under the supervision of Mir Faizullah Baigand Rangaiah Chowdary.

It took about 8000 masons and 77 years to be completed.

The mosque is believed to contain sacred relics, one of which is the hair of the Islamic prophet Muhammad.

The bricks were brought from Holy Mecca, which were built into the central arch and hence the name.

The mosque is adorned with Belgian crystal chandeliers.

Tirupati

Located at Tirumala, Andhra Pradesh.

Located on the Venkatachalam hill that forms part of the seven hills of Tirumala.

The temple complex comprises of a smaller traditional temple building along with a number of modern queue and pilgrim lodging sites.

The presiding deity of the temple is Lord Venkateswara, also known as Balajior Srinivasa.

In Vaishnava tradition, the temple is considered one of the 108 Divya Desam sites.

As a tradition, pilgrims shave off their hair on visiting the temple.

Also known as Seshachala.

Is the most visited Hindu place of worship, and is the world`s second richest in terms of the offerings made by pilgrims to the God.

Is the second most visited holy place after the Vatican.

Warangal Fort

Situated in the Warangal city of Andhra Pradesh.

In the mid-13th century, the construction of this colossal structure was initiated by the Kakatiyan king, Ganapatideva. Rani Rudramaa, who was the daughter of the King, further made the efforts to complete the construction work.

The ends include commanding gateways and graceful towers that elevate to no less than 50 feet.

The main gateway comprises of the four gigantic pillars, which have been crafted out of a single rock.

Warangal Fort is one of the architectural wonders of the bygone era.

The structure was built in the 13th century by rulers of the Kakatiya dynasty.

The ruins intricate sculpture, stone works, motifs and designs - depicts animals like lions and swans

Borra Caves

The Borra Caves are located in the Anatagiri Hills of Eastern Ghats, near Vishakapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.

The caves open 100 meter on horizontal plane and about 75 meters on vertical plane.

These caves spread over an area of 1 sq. km. is where River Gosthani (which flows through the district) originates from.

They are at a height of about 800 to 1300 metres above Mean Sea Level and are famous for millions of years old stalactite and stalagmite formations.
